YOUR HOLIDAY ATTIRE:

Sri Lanka is a tropical country with cooler temperatures in the central mountains.
Pack your cottons, with flat-heeled comfortable walking shoes, sun-hat & sun-glasses and sun-cream if you need it. A Pullover or light sweater will be required in the mountains of the Nuwara Eliya district.

When you visit a Buddhist or Hindu temple, it is necessary to remove shoes and headgear as a sign of respect. Women should be modestly dressed and your attire should cover shoulders and knees and should not be revealing. As your temple-visit could be in the midst of sightseeing, we suggest carrying a shawl and a wrap-around, sarong or skirt, which can be easily slipped on and off.

In most hotels smart casual attire is required at restaurants for dinner. Shorts, flip-flops and rubber open-topped slippers are not accepted. For breakfast and lunch the rules are more relaxed.
TOURIST VISA

Effective 1st January 2012, tourists (except nationals of Singapore and Maldives) require visas to enter Sri Lanka. The visa can be obtained either by applying on-line (recommended and an easy process) or on arrival at the Katunayake International airport. Visa fee for a tourist visa is US$10 (applied on-line) or US$ 15 if obtained on arrival. Visa fee is subject to revisions by the authorities. More details on the process of applying the visa can be obtained on the website  - www.eta.gov.lk

CREDIT CARDS & LOCAL CURRENCY:

American Express, Mastercard and Visa are widely accepted in Hotels, Restaurants, and large Stores & Shops. Local currency is however required to purchase items from small kiosks and street shops. You can easily exchange foreign to local currency at many banks and authorized money exchange centers located in most towns. US Dollars, British Pounds & Euros are the most easily exchanged and get good exchange rates. Hotels also offer to exchange currency but you would find their rates not very favorable. ATM machines from which foreign accounts can be accessed are found around the country. For more or specific information, contact us on
