Colombo – was a Fort City and military garrison during 450 years of European rule from 1515 – 1848 and foreign influence is reflected in the architecture of old buildings and street names. Colombo is the commercial hub of Sri Lanka today and a cosmopolitan city with global brands and modern amenities nestling alongside nostalgic ancient buildings and sights.

Kandy – was the last kingdom of the Sinhala Kings from 1505 – 1815. Highlights in Kandy are the ‘Dalada Maligawa’ (temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of The Buddha), the Royal Botanical Gardens (formerly the pleasure gardens of Kandyan Kings) and more recently a beautiful 18-hole Golf Course overlooking the Victoria Reservoir. Kandy was founded in 1472 after the collapse of the Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa kingdoms and after 1505 when European invaders took control of the coastal regions the Sinhala Kings strategically retreated into the mountains and established Kandy as their Kingdom, from where they repulsed invasions for 300 years helped by the natural citadel formation of the ring of mountains in the center of the island .
